Welcome to Project Headspace and Timing

Eric Peterson ·

Project Headspace and Timing (PHAT) was born from a simple but powerful belief: every veteran deserves the support, community, and resources they need to thrive after service.

Our Story

As a veteran myself, I saw firsthand the challenges that service members face when they return home. The transition from military to civilian life can be one of the most difficult journeys a person undertakes. Too often, veterans feel isolated, misunderstood, or unable to access the help they need.

That’s why I founded PHAT here in Manteno, Illinois — to create a bridge between veterans and their communities, between struggle and healing, between service and a renewed sense of purpose.

What We Do

PHAT operates through three core programs:

Veteran Advocacy — We stand up for those who stood for us. From navigating VA benefits to amplifying veteran voices in local and state policy discussions, we ensure no veteran faces bureaucratic barriers alone.

Veteran Outreach — Through community events, outdoor activities, and peer support networks, we reach veterans where they are. Our outreach programs combat isolation by fostering genuine connections between veterans and their neighbors.

Veteran Village Initiative — Our flagship program envisions a dedicated space where veterans can find community, resources, and a path forward. The Veteran Village combines housing support, communal gathering spaces, and nature-based healing in one cohesive environment.

Why “Headspace and Timing”

Any veteran knows that headspace and timing are everything — whether you’re on the range, in the field, or navigating life’s challenges. Getting your headspace right means having the mental clarity and emotional resilience to face what’s ahead. Timing means knowing when to act, when to ask for help, and when to lean on your community.

That’s what we’re here to help with.
